Copper ores and concentrates, motor cars and ferroalloys are Georgia’s top export items in January-March 2019, announces the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
More specifically, copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items, equalling $135.6 million, or 16.4% of total exports. The re-export of motor cars totalled $99.1 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 12%.
The ferroalloys exports occupied the third place standing at $95.6 million and constituting 11.6% of the total exports.
In the same period top import commodities were:
• Petroleum and petroleum oils (worth $150.4 million, or 7.6% of total imports)
• Petroleum gases (worth $131.5 million, or 6.6% of total imports)
• Copper ores and concentrates (worth $120.2 million or 6.1% of total imports)
In January-March Georgia’s top trading partners were:
• Turkey ($373.3 million)
• Russia ($327 million)
• Azerbaijan ($272.5 million)
Trade with EU countries
Trade turnover with European Union (EU) countries increased by 14.9% year-on-year (y/y) and amounted to $698.1 million, said Geostat.
Exports were worth $196 million (6.4% higher), while imports reached $502.2 million (17.8% higher).
Trade with CIS countries
The external trade turnover of Georgia with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries totalled $992.2 million in January-March 2019 – 2.4% higher compared to the same period of 2018.
The exports to the CIS countries stood at $416.1 million (37.4% higher), while imports equalled $576.1 million (13.5% lower).
