Jan-July 2019: Georgia earns $114 mln by exporting 47 mln bottles of wine

Georgia exported about 47.2 million bottles of wine to 47 countries in January-July of 2019, which is a 4% increase compared to the same period of 2018, announces the Georgian National Wine Agency.

In the reporting period Georgia generated over $114.2 million from the sale of wine abroad – a 6% increase year-on-year.

The top 10 countries that imported the most bottles of Georgian wine in January-July 2019 were:

Russia – 29,132,711 bottles
Ukraine – 4,893,304 bottles
China – 4,249,687 bottles
Poland – 2,250,994 bottles
Kazakhstan – 1,902,618 bottles
Belarus -1,008,888
Latvia – 841,236
United States – 388,038
Lithuania – 372,918
Estonia – 357,866

To strategic export markets:

United States – 60% increase (388,038 bottles)
United Kingdom – 39% increase (69,662 bottles)
China - 21% increase (4,249,687 bottles)
Poland - 19% increase (2,250,994 bottles)
Export also grew to these countries:
France - 143% (63,948 bottles)
Lithuania - 41% (372,918 bottles)
Mongolia – 35% (172,392 bottles)
Belarus - 19% (1,008,888 bottles)
Israel - 51% (165,671 bottles)

Meanwhile, Georgia exported 14.5 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+46%) and 306,200 bottles of Chacha (+40%) abroad.
