If you've never had Georgian cuisine before, then you're missing out – and this new Dubai restaurant is the perfect place to try it.

Modi, which is opening on the 31st floor of the Sofitel Dubai Downtown, is promising authentic cuisine, with traditional grape directly flown in from the central Asian country twice per week.

It'll all be served up by waiters who also happen to be professional dancers to the sounds of a live folk music band.

Dishes on offer here include Georgian pastries, fish and vegetable starters as well as authentic cheeses such as sour and salty sulguni and soft cottage cheese-like gebzhalia.

Famous soups will also be served up including chikhirtma – which doesn't use a vegetable base – and sup kharcho (that's beef soup).

There will also be an assortment of charcoal-grilled organic meats flowin in from the Georgian mountains.

Other dishes on the menu include stewed calf meat and Georgian dry beans with tomato.

The kitchen will be overseen by chef Guram Baghdoshvili, who is a celebrity in Georgia having prepared food for three presidents.

Modi is opening in the space that previously housed Player Sports Bar, which has now relocated to a spot on the fifth floor.
