“In 2017, due to the difference of the currency rates I lost 3.5 mln GEL” – this statement was made to bm.ge by businessman Tsezar Chocheli.
According to him depreciation of the national currency always negatively influences production.
“In the morning it increases by 5 points, in the evening it decreases by 5 points – this is a disaster and will definitely have negative impact on production,” – states Chocheli.
To the question of bm.ge whether private sector buys dollars when lari depreciates the businessman answered:
“I don’t remember doing that and I don’t recall of a manufacturer having spare millions on the account to buy dollars today or lari. Manufacturers don’t have this luxury but I don’t know about banks,” – stated Chocheli.
It is difficult for the businessman to say what is the reason for recent fluctuations of lari towards depreciation.
“I have a question: in the morning lira depreciates and next evening also depreciates lari. What happened, did huge amount of cash flew out of the country? – I don’t have answered,” – states the businessman.
