Dighomi Orchards and Temka Gorge were named as new locations for city parks, where new recreational spaces will be created. According to the Mayor f Tbilisi, research works will be conducted this year and as from the next year, implementation of practical part of the project will be commenced.
This year, rehabilitation of three major parks will also start. Apart from Turtsumia and Godziashvili parks, new recreational space will be arranged in Gldani 6, where an area of more than 3 ha has been allocated for that purpose.
“With regard to ecology, nobody is happy with the existing situation. This is a wide-scale issue and it requires a complex approach. We started arrangement of small and medium parks, which will facilitate improvement of ecological situation. Also the project of removing garages and replacing them with green spaces and sports grounds has been developed. But this only is not enough to change the situation. As regards transport, certain limitations should necessarily be introduced. We should act as a locomotive by replacing yellow buses. We will have to make a step which will not popular with the population by due to common good, we will have to do this,” – stated Kakha Kaladze.
In the coming days, the Tbilisi City Hall will present the Transport Policy Action Plan with annual breakdown of specific actions meant for solving this problem.
