Recorded Cybercrime doubles in Georgia
According to the data by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2018 cybercrime doubled. According to the crime statistics, 613 cases of cybercrimes have been revealed in the first 8 months of this year, which is 111% higher rate than the same period in 2017. With the increase of cybercrime rates, the rate of opening and handling of cases has decreased. In the first eight months of 2017 23% of cases of cyber offenses were opened, whereas in 2018 this number was reduced to 11.7%, that is, almost 90% of cybercrime cases remain unopened.
