PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA OPENS THE PAVILLION OF GEORGIA - GUEST OF HONOR AT FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR IN 2018

Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia launched the Pavilion of Georgia as a Guest of Honor in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2018 together with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy; Jurgen Boos, Director of the Frankfurt Book Fair today.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia presented a unique handwritten copy of the Knight in Panther Skin to visitors of the Pavilion. Its cover embossing was created by Guji Amashukeli, celebrated Georgian sculptor living and working in France. Museum copy of the Knight in Panther Skin is showcased at the Frankfurt Book Fair with a personal initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia. A group of illustration artists and calligraphers both in Tbilisi and Paris worked on the edition in 2017-2018. Treasure of national magnitude, which has a silver cover embossing adorned with almost 20 precious stones will be deposited at the United Nations Arts Collection in New York.

Prime Minister of Georgia presented gifts to the High Representative of the European Union: collection silver coin with a denomination of 5 GEL branded as The Georgian Book, which has been minted by the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) to mark participation of the country in the Frankfurt Book Fair as a Guest of Honor in 2018.

Head of the Government of Georgia and high-ranking officials also viewed the Magnum photo exhibition and attended a concert of Khatia Buniatishvili, Georgian pianist who performed for the guests of the Georgian Pavilion today.
