PRIME MINISTER MEETS EUMM MISSION HEAD IN GEORGIA

Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia met with Erik Hoeg, Head of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia today.

Discussions were focused on the significance of EUMM as the only international mechanism of peace and stability on site, for which the Prime Minister of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the Head of the EUMM and thereby welcomed the extension of its mandate to 2020.

Parties also discussed the grave condition in the occupied regions of the country in terms of safety, humanitarian aid and human rights. Reference was made to the new peacekeeping initiative of the Government of Georgia, titled as a Step towards Better Future, which is aimed at the building of trust among the conflict-affected societies.

Discussions were also related to the format of International Negotiations in Geneva and prevention of incidents, along with the significance of response mechanisms and the need to effectively use the referred formats. It was also noted at the meeting that Government of Georgia has an unshaken policy towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Prime Minister and Head of EUMM in Georgia also spoke about the need to implement an effective set of international measures against individuals captured in Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria List and execution of justice on actual tragic occurrences.
