Close Georgia-Austria relations, Georgia's European integration, Government reforms, advantageous business environment, and Austrian companies' growing interest in Georgia's beneficial investment potential were the key topics discussed during today's meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arad Benkö of the Republic of Austria to Georgia.

The Head of Government and the Austrian diplomat emphasized the countries' friendly and dynamic cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats and pointed out that the establishment of the Austrian Embassy in Tbilisi will contribute significantly to the further deepening of relations, including in terms of economic ties.

According to the Austrian side, the Georgian Government's strategy seeking to transform the country into a regional financial, logistics, trade, tourism, and other types of hub has been a success backed up, among others, by the country's geographic location.

Special emphasis during the meeting was placed on Georgia's developmental prospects as an important transport and logistics corridor, along with regional projects.

The important of the meeting between Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and the Federal Chancellor of Austria in September during the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly was singled out, and so was the need to maintain high-level visits between the two countries.
The meeting at the Administration of the Government also involved the dire human rights and humanitarian situation in Georgia's occupied territories, and the Georgian Government's peace initiative A Step to a Better Future, yet another step taken toward building confidence between the communities torn by the occupation lines and toward peaceful conflict resolution.

The Prime Minister thanked the Austrian side for its firm support of Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
