Founder of TBC Bank, Mamuka Khazaradze offered the civil society to choose specialists or organizations that will investigate all the documents concerning the transaction of 17 million USD - the transaction for which Khazaradze himself is accused of money laundering.

At a special press conference today, chair and deputy chair of TBC Bank’s supervisory board, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze answered the questions regarding TBC Bank’s case.

Khazaradze and Japaridze didn’t disclose any details; however, they called upon the journalists to get specialists involved in investigating this case.

“Due to high public interest, we are ready to let you select local or international law firms, NGOs, diplomatic corps representatives or special commission, who will be given all the necessary information and documents from our side. We will give them the documents that have been topic of discussion and that are connected to the transactions made in 2007-2008 years. We can’t comment on the small passages that are taken out of context, because unfortunately, that’s how it is being spread from time to time here. We gathered you at the press conference so that the specialists appointed by society could study this case. We can’t go into details, because you’ll get confused and you won’t understand”, stated Khazaradze.

On Friday TBC Bank has filed a lawsuit against National Bank of Georgia (NBG) for their decision to suspend authority for the TBC Bank's Supervisory Board Chairman Mamuka Khazaradze and Deputy Badri Japaridze.

National Bank of Georgia ordered the firing of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TBC Bank, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze. This decision has to be implemented within the course of next two months.

Mamuka Khazaradze thinks that this decision is a part of a campaign to damage his reputation. “The NBG wants to distance us from the company we created together 27 years ago and which is now successful, international, London-based, multi-billion organization with theteam of up to 10,000 people...We will not give up our job, our freedom, our dignity. We will not tolerate injustice and we will defend the legal right of TBC and its shareholders in local and international institutions,” TBC Bank's Supervisory Board Chairman stated.

According to NBG and prosecutor's office Khazaradze and Japaridze have violated legislation regulating conflicts of interests issues. The identified infringements that were detected through the inspection conducted by NBG, are linked to the transactions that took place in 2007-2008.
