The Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze has made an announcement via Facebook live about a carsharing project in Tbilisi.

According to Kaladze, city hall is planing to introduce new carsharing programme in Tbilisi. "Similar projects are already running successfully in several European countries and in the near future Tbilisi dwellers will also have the opportunity to enjoy carsharing,"- says Kaladze.

The mayor stated that a private company has become interested in the project and will make a presentation regarding it in the near future. For the initial stage, 300 electric cars will be imported the city and placed in various locations. People will be able to use the car through a mobile application specifically developed for this service.

According to Kaladze, the user will also be able to reserve the car using the app. The mayor says service charges will be affordable.

After the users are finished with the service, they will be able to park the car in a designated parking spot where fast electric chargers will be located.

The representative of the company, who also spoke about the project on Facebook live together with the mayor, says that Georgia will be leading country that will implement a car sharing program with electric cars.

"The company will notify the public of more details in the near future,"- says Kaladze.
