Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava stated that the price for the gas that is transported to Armenia has been lowered. No specific details have been revealed.

“We have advanced our positions in both conditions. The transit price has been raised and the price for Russian gas is lowered, in case some private representative gets interested with Russian gas.

This is a commercial secret and we continue this agreement. We cannot talk about the details based on the secrecy regime”, stated Turnava.

According to Turnava the negotiation process was long and hard, however the principle of energy security for Georgia has been defended. Deputy Minister statedthat alongside the motivation to advance positions, the second main aim of Georgian side was to defend this principle.

“Our tactics for negotiations was probably efficient, because we haven’t compromised on major principles which concern energy independency or security and we have also advanced our positions in commercial issues”, stated Natia Turnava.

Deputy Minister stated that the new contract will enter into force by the end of the month and it will expire after two years.
