Genadi Arveladze Held Meetings at USA Aiming at Deepening of Georgia-USA Trade and Economy Relations

On November 28-29, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Genadi Arveladze, within the frames o f his official visit to the USA, held a meeting with the advisors of various committees of the US House of Representatives and Senate on international trade as well as with the USAID Assistant Administrator for European and Eurasian Affairs and the USTR Assistants on economic policy, Europe and the Middle East and the labor issues.

During the meetings, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development underlined the necessity of expanding the trade between the US and Georgia and highlighted the possibility of launching the dialogues on free trade agreement between the countries.

At the meetings held in the House of Representatives and Senate, Genadi Arveladze spoke about the importance of the support of the legislative power in the process of deepening economic relations, which is also necessary for the expansion of bilateral trade relations between the countries. This issue was discussed at a meeting held at the US Trade Representative’s Office.

At the discussion held at the USAID, the Deputy Minister spoke about the importance of the projects and programs by the Agency in terms of economic development, including the two major programs, which will greatly contribute to the development of the agriculture in Georgia and promote the strengthening of the economic security in the country. One of the main issues of the meeting was the USAID’s Strategy and Guideline, which will be implemented in Georgia next years for the economic development in the different fields.

On November 29, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze delivered a report and took part in the annual conference of the US-Georgia Business Council, which focused on the importance of the US-Georgia economic and commercial cooperation and deepening of this direction.

In the frames of the visit, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia will also meet with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Trade of the US State Department. Genadi Arveladze will also meet with the Director of the Financial Committee of the US House of Representatives on international issues.
